It is Valentine’s Day tomorrow and people are looking around for stuff to give their loved ones. Speaking for ourselves, we do not think one needs a special day to give the ones we love a present, but ah, that’s a debate for another day and perhaps another blog. Right now, if we were asked for our shortlist of the best things we could give to tech-friendly loved one tomorrow without straining our wallets beyond the Rs. 10,000 barrier, we would recommend these…

• iPod touch 3rd Generation 8 GB: All right, so this one is a tad above Rs 10k at Rs 10,500 but still it throws in all the goodness of the iPhone minus the phone, camera and GPS, at around a third of the price. Use it as a media player, gaming console, e-book reader or even mini computer. And it looks awesome too. The ultimate V-Day gift, say we!

• Infibeam Pi: India’s first ebook reader is a terrific deal for Rs 9,900, even though it does not have a data connection. It is not available yet, but advance orders are being accepted. Imagine how much a book lover would adore this!

• Samsung Corby Plus: A touchscreen and QWERTY keypad phone with a decent shooter. Best value for money phone!

• Western Digital My Passport Elite: 500 GB of storage packed into a delightfully sleek form with some terrific colours. For Rs 6990, we think this rocks, especially as it works perfectly with PCs and Macs and has some excellent syncing software on board too!

• iPod Nano 5th Generation 8 GB: Yes, another iPod! But just consider the facts: dazzling looks, great video, amazing audio, FM radio, great video recording…Rs 8200. Need we say more?

• Tata Photon Plus data card: Speed in your hand - the best data card in town. Allowing you to access the Net at near broadband speeds. For around Rs 3,500 only. As you will have plenty of cash in hand, you could also throw in expenses for about half a year’s browsing. If they don’t love that, they are really hard to please!
