Structuring Future LinkedIn F2F Events

An important discussion at the LinkedIn F2F meet in Delhi on February 23 was how to structure future events to ensure sustained interest amongst members. These were some of the suggestions that came up:

* Why have an agenda? It was natural for many people to ask what specific benefits can be derived from such meets? It was felt by many that having an agenda may just take the fun and surprise elements away; it is when you meet new people will new ideas come up.
* Discover more about each other: Again, why do we need to meet someone only to check out professional benefits? Discover more about each other and build relationships in an informal setting. Other things will follow.

STRUCTURED EVENTS
It is natural for many to still expect some form of structured events. These could possibly of different kinds. Some options suggested are:

Option I

Option II
These are events initiated by anyone with a very specific agenda, for which advance notice is sent out. A clearly defined statement of purpose can ensure there is professional relevance for those meeting.

EVENT SIZE, VENUE & SCHEDULES
There need not be any pre-defined set of rules here. These could be a meeting for a gathering of six, or 200. And it could be at a coffee shop, a farmhouse, any office or a convention centre. And anytime someone is willing to take the lead. It is all a voluntary effort - and can be sustained only as long as there are people willing to put in the requisite efforts.
