A few pointers onF2F event logistics may be helpful to those planning any. Covered here are the same under the headers of Volunteers, Financials and Communications.
VOLUNTEERS
Such events can only be possible with the effort of volunteers. And the best way off the ground, like for Delhi, is to go ahead and plan an event and then invite everyone. Too much planning and doubts will never make things happen. If members in Delhi could pull off the event, why not others too?
THE FINANCIALS
Events can be financed through sponsors, or contributions by those attending. It all depends on the group meeting. Volunteers organizing the events will have to take a call on this after consulting those attending.
COMMUNICATIONS
An important element for any event is communications, including the initial invites and then reminders. Here are some ideas that helped the first event in Delhi:
- Post a question on LinkedIn Answers.
- Send invites to your network, and ask them too pass it on.
- Create a wiki where everyone can sign on.
- Ask everyone to sign up to the LinkedIn F2F Yahoo group by sending a blank mail to linkedinf2f-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. And then send mails to this group. But this is a moderated group and only event related messages will be allowed to go through.
- Post on this blog so everyone can get regular RSS feeds or email updates. Send a mail to ajay@ajayjain.com with details so these can be posted here. But do allow for some lead time in case Ajay Jain cannot access mails for a few days.
- Join and post on the Facebook Group: Let’s Connect - Face to Face
- Just pick up the phone and call people.
