Mochila Home PageIf you publish a blog, or any other form of online media, you would know the effort is takes to churn out quality content on a regular basis. Getting content from other sources can be an option, but it costs money. Now imagine having access to high quality syndicated content from sources like The Associated Press, Getty Images and Hearst Magazines – and this is not only free, but it comes with an opportunity to earn money.

Sounds too good to be true? Check out exactly such an offering from Mochila.

During my recent visit to AdTech New York, I got a chance to chat up with Mochila’s Chief Marketing Officer Craig Calder. He described Mochila as a service that is “redefining content syndication through its global online media marketplace for text, video, and photo content. The company’s syndication platform levels the playing field for publishers of all sizes – from long-tail blogs to large media companies. It allows web publishers to buy and syndicate content for free and earn a percentage of the advertising revenue that accompanies that content.”

Mochila Chief Marketing Officer Craig CalderMochila integrates its proprietary licensing-management technology with the company’s licensed ad supported program. The ads are served as a part of any content used by the publisher, revenues being shared between the publisher, content provider and Mochila.

What does this mean for you as a publisher? You get the content, you even someone effectively selling the ads inventory and sending you the cheque. Besides this, you can also sell additional ad spots on your site if you wish to. And you could be a high-traffic online media or just a niche blog. Mochila allows you to choose content under various headers, and even customize its look and feel on the site.

In theory, and some people are actually doing this, you could have an online media without writing a word on it – all content could come from Mochila.

Publishers can also go in for paid content, where they pay per piece at prices set by the content provider. Certain content is available only through this option and not the free one. Mochila will not serve any ads in this case.

There have been some recent developments at Mochila and these may be noteworthy too:
